Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern’s “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we’ll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Photo of the Week

BSC drumline—Birmingham-Southern students and staff received hands-on instruction on authentic African instruments while shaking to rhythms during a Jan. 9 Interim term activity. The two-hour class “Harmonious Drumming: The Art of Drumming as it Pertains to African Society” was led by Atu Murray of Birmingham. Murray lived in West Africa for several years studying drumming and traditional West African culture. He performs and teaches students how to play African drums in and around the Birmingham area. The class is just one of numerous special activities planned for the campus community during the college’s January Interim term, during which students explore one topic or interest.
