BSC Photo of the Week

Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Interim in Africa—Sixteen Birmingham-Southern students and three staff members have returned from a service-learning trip to Mozambique, where they spent a good portion of the January Interim Term helping to build a church. Here, just outside Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique, Interim participants form a line as they unload a truck filled with cement blocks used to build the walls of the CMC church building in an area resettled after hundreds of thousands of residents were displaced during the floods of 2000-01. The students also taught residents conversational English. As the college's 37th Interim Term comes to a close, BSC students are set to begin the Spring Term on Feb. 3 following a brief winter break.
