BSC Photo of the Week

Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Community garden clean-up—Birmingham-Southern students and staff work to clean up the community garden/EcoScape sponsored by the college in the Woodlawn community in east-central Birmingham. Thirteen BSC students and two staff members are spending the January Interim Term doing service-learning projects in the area which suffers from many of the problems currently associated with America's inner cities. Students spent the first week of Interim living in an area church, exploring the community, and studying the process of community building. In the following weeks, they will tutor students at Woodlawn High School and Whatley Elementary School, remodel homes with Outreach Inc., and prepare and serve meals at Community Kitchens.
