BSC Photo of the Week

Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Now playing—Birmingham-Southern College's Department of Theatre may be the only undergraduate program in the Southeast to offer a winter repertory immersion during the January Interim Term. After only two and one-half weeks, the department is presenting two very different and challenging works. Pictured here, and in production through Jan. 29 at the BSC Theatre/Theatre One, is “Myths & Hymns,” a modern day song cycle by Adam Guettel which illuminates feelings with which we all must cope in our journey through life. Guettel's inspiration came from ancient mythology and an old hymnal he found in a used bookshop. “Myths & Hymns” evokes a human yearning for immortality, true love, spiritual awakening, and a desire to win the game of life. The production will be onstage Jan. 24, 27, and 29 at 7:30 p.m. Also running during the college's Interim Term is the theatrical production “Phaedra,” onstage Jan. 23, 28, and 30, also at 7:30 p.m. For ticket information, call the BSC Theatre Box Office at 226-4780.
