BSC Photo of the Week

Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

And a “healthy” new year—Several Birmingham-Southern faculty and staff members recently gave up their lunch breaks to participate in a tutorial on the exercise and weight equipment in the college's Larry D. Striplin Jr. Physical Fitness and Recreation Center. The information session, presented by Mike Robinson, the college's director of physical fitness and recreation, was just one of the various on-campus activities planned for faculty, staff, and students during the college's traditional Interim Term, which is a four-week period each January in which students develop their potential for creative activity and independent study by exploring one topic or interest. More than 200 Birmingham-Southern students are spending January involved in service-learning and study projects locally, nationally, and internationally, while hundreds of others are studying specific areas of interest individually and in on-campus courses. In addition to the exercise and weight room, the Striplin Center also houses two basketball/volleyball courts, two racquetball courts, a running track, a swimming pool, an aerobics room, and other fitness areas.
