  BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College is ranked No. 24 among all liberal arts colleges and universities in the nation according to a new higher education ranking compiled by the Center for College Affordability and Productivity.

• Birmingham-Southern College announces 2008-09 Honor Council
  BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern College Student Government Association recently selected 19 students to serve on the Honor Council for the 2008-09 academic year.

• Birmingham-Southern organist professor appointed to national council
  BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College Organist Professor James Cook has been appointed to the National Council of the Organ Historical Society.

• Birmingham-Southern professor receives grant to study European stock market
  BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Ron Stunda, associate professor of accounting at Birmingham-Southern College, has been awarded a travel grant by the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Trading and Markets.

  BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —Birmingham-Southern College Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology Peter Van Zandt and 16 BSC students are working this semester taking inventory of plant species at local sites maintained by the Freshwater Land Trust and Ruffner Mountain Nature Center.

• Birmingham-Southern biology professor and students publish paper on effect of fire reintroduction on rare Alabama plants
  BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —Birmingham-Southern College Assistant Professor of Biology Scot Duncan and three former BSC students have published a paper in the March 2008 issue of “Restoration Ecology,” the journal of The Society for Ecological Restoration International.

• Birmingham-Southern alumnus and Mountain Brook native to deliver keynote address at college’s Honors Day
  BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College alumnus Craig Langford, current senior project manager in the office of Social Impact at the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) in Washington, D.C., will deliver the keynote address at the college’s annual Honors Day Convocation Thursday, April 24.

  BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—According to a recently released survey by “Reader’s Digest” magazine, Birmingham-Southern is the only institution of higher education in Alabama to receive an “A” for safety preparedness, and is ranked No. 9 in the nation in terms of safety readiness, making it the highest ranked national liberal arts college in America.

• Birmingham-Southern students to present dance performances of original choreography
