Birmingham-Southern names new director of alumni affairs and stewardship

Chris Wenning LambertBIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Chris Wenning Lambert, a 1986 Birmingham-Southern graduate with experience in outreach and strategic leadership, has been named the college's director of alumni affairs and stewardship.

"Chris has considerable experience leading groups of volunteers and high-performing teams, which will benefit BSC greatly," said Vice President for Institutional Advancement Chuck Vinson, to whom Lambert will report. "She is a great addition to the advancement team that we are building here on the Hilltop."

In this newly created role, she will plan and promote a comprehensive alumni affairs program, serve as the key liaison between the college and its more than 16,000 living alumni worldwide, and preside over National Alumni Association meetings. Lambert also will support development initiatives, including Annual Fund campaigns, and manage the Advancement Services Department, ensuring that BSC's fundraising database and prospect management system operates efficiently and effectively.

Lambert comes to Birmingham-Southern from the IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) Owners Association, headquartered in Atlanta, where she served as director of communications before rising to the position of senior director of member engagement. During her four years with the association, she oversaw all marketing and branding initiatives. She was BSC's director of communications from 2008-10.

In addition, Lambert has significant leadership experience in alumni relations. She has served on BSC's Alumni Executive Board since 2010 and was slated to be president in 2015. The college currently has more than 50 alumni chapters in locations across the United States.

Brent Yarborough, national president of the alumni association and a 1997 BSC alum, said he is excited that Lambert is bringing her talents and energy to the college full-time.

"Chris has been a very committed volunteer leader in our Alumni Association," said Yarborough. "I look forward to working with her as we leverage our strengths to increase alumni engagement and giving."

Lambert earned her bachelor's degree, cum laude, in English. She is married to Christopher Lambert '88 and has a son and daughter, Connor and Eva, and a stepson, Colin, who will be attending BSC as a freshman this fall.
