BSC Symphonic Band to present spring concert at Alabama Theatre

The Birmingham-Southern College Symphonic Band will give a free public concert at the historic Alabama Theatre on Thursday, April 11, at 7 p.m.

This is the band’s first performance at the theatre, which is located at 1817 Third Avenue North in downtown Birmingham, and its largest venue to date.

The ensemble, directed by BSC’s Benjamin C. Posey, will be performing a variety of works including Richard Suacedo’s "Walking Into History" in reflection of one of the most significant events of the American civil rights movement and David Maslanka’s "Give Us This Day".

The band will also be featuring its newly formed Percussion Ensemble, several student soloists, and will conclude with "Alleluia! Laudamus Te" with Dr. Lester Seigel on the Alabama Theatre’s famous “Mighty Wurlitzer” organ!

For more information about the concert, please contact Posey, director of the bands and music education programs, at bposey@bsc.edu.
