Birmingham-Southern College receives honors from national publications

BSC is once again the No. 1 college or university in the state of Alabama, according to Forbes magazine.

The 2012 Forbes America’s Top Colleges report released Aug. 1 ranks schools based on the quality of teaching, experiences, great career prospects, high graduation rates, and low levels of debt.

Forbes included 650 schools from across the country. Nine other Alabama colleges and universities made the list, which is compiled by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for College Affordability and Productivity.  Princeton was ranked the No. 1 school in the nation.

In a separate accomplishment, BSC is also among the 310 colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain highlighted in the 2012-13 Fiske Guide to Colleges, released this month.

Compiled by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske, the Fiske Guide to Colleges profiles the academic climates and the social and extracurricular scenes at the “best and most interesting” schools.
