World-renowned Chinese acrobats to perform at Birmingham-Southern College Jan. 18
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—One of the most famous acrobatic groups in China, the Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe, will perform at Birmingham-Southern Wednesday, Jan. 18, in celebration of the 2012 Chinese New Year, Year of the Dragon.
The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum. The public is invited, and the event is free. Reservations are not necessary. The doors of the coliseum will open at 7 p.m.
The acrobatic company will perform more than a dozen routines alongside a local multicultural team of artists. There will be feats of contortion, balance, and daring—all with a touch of traditional Chinese culture.
The event is co-sponsored by BSC, the Birmingham Chinese Business Association, and the consulate general of the People's Republic of China in Houston. Other local sponsors include the college's Love Asia student organization, Birmingham Chinese Association, Birmingham Chinese Festival Association, and UAB Chinese Student and Scholar Association.
For more information about the performance, contact Anne Ledvina in BSC's Sklenar Center for International Programs, at 205-226-7722 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
