Birmingham-Southern business graduate students receive highest GPA award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern graduate students Ellise Pruitt Mayor of Homewood and Randall Raiford of Hueytown each won the Dyson-Wagnon Masters Academic Honor Award presented during the college’s 2011 Honors Day Convocation.

Named after former BSC staff members David Dyson and Constance Wagnon, the award recognizes a student, or students, in the college’s Master of Arts in Public and Private Management program who has achieved the highest grade-point average.

Mayor, who earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa, is employed as artistic director of The Seasoned Performers, Alabama’s only senior adult theatre company. Raiford, a 1988 summa cum laude graduate of BSC, is chief financial officer for Hanna Steel Corporation.

The students also were recently inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, an international scholastic honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

They will both graduate from Birmingham-Southern May 14.
