Monster.com founder to deliver inaugural Stump Lecture in Entrepreneurship at Birmingham-Southern College
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Jeff Taylor, founder of Monster.com, Eons.com, and Tributes.com, will deliver Birmingham-Southern College's inaugural Stump Lecture in Entrepreneurship on Thursday, April 21, on campus.
The 11 a.m. lecture in the Bruno Great Hall of the Norton Campus Center is open to the public and admission is free.
Recognized as an innovator and visionary in both the Internet and career industries, Taylor reinvented the way job hunters seek employment. The Monster.com website was one of the first dot-com companies when it was introduced in 1993, and it has since become the world's leading online career site. Today, the Monster global network consists of local content and language sites in over 30 countries and serves nearly 30 million unique visitors monthly.
Taylor left Monster in 2005 to found a new venture, Eons.com, a social networking site for people over age 50. In 2008, he started Tributes.com, an online resource for national and local obituary news with more than 80 million obituaries and partnerships with thousands of funeral homes. He currently serves as CEO of Eons.com and chairman of Tributes.com.
Taylor is a frequent speaker at colleges and universities, Fortune 500 companies, and major industry events, and a regular guest on CNBC. He has co-authored three books under the "Monster Careers" title offering job seekers step-by-step plans for interviewing, finding the job, and networking.
He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a certificate from the Owner/President Management (OPM) Program, Executive Education, Harvard Business School.
An avid radio deejay for more than 30 years, Taylor has a weekly show on Sirius/XM under the name Jefr Tale.
The Stump Lecture in Entrepreneurship is made possible by a generous contribution from Kevin and Jane Templeton Stump of Birmingham, both graduates of BSC. Their gift, along with support from an existing endowed fund created by Joseph S. Bruno, funds the Stump Programs in Entrepreneurship at the college, of which this lecture is a part.
Kevin Stump is founder, chairman, and CEO of Interconn Resources, Inc.
