Birmingham-Southern professor recognized as exemplary teacher by United Methodist Church

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Dr. Bill Nicholas, professor of history at Birmingham-Southern College, has been presented with the Exemplary Teaching Award by the Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry of the United Methodist Church. The award was presented during the college's 2010 Honors Day Convocation.

The award is presented annually to a BSC professor who is "characterized by excellence in teaching; civility and concern for students and colleagues; commitment to value-centered education; and service to students, the institution, the community, or the church."

Joining the Birmingham-Southern faculty in 1972, Nicholas holds a bachelor's and master's degree from Trinity University and a Ph.D. from Tulane University.
