Local students receive Birmingham-Southern College dance scholarship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Birmingham-Southern students Lindsay Carter of Enterprise, Lauren Hamilton of Montgomery, Leslie Kilpatrick of Andalusia, and Katie Welsh of Cordova, Tenn., are the recipients of the endowed Mira Popovich Scholarship in Dance presented during the college's 2010 Honors Day Convocation.

The scholarship was established in honor of Birmingham-Southern professor of dance Mira Popovich. The award is presented to outstanding dance majors, either a graduating senior or rising senior, and is intended to assist with expenses of pursuing a career in the field of dance.

Carter is a senior English major and the daughter of William and Angela Carter

Hamilton is a senior dance major and the daughter of Lynn Blackwell and Bobby Hamilton of Mobile.

Kilpatrick is a senior dance major and math minor and is the daughter of George and Evone Kilpatrick.
Welsh is a senior dance major and the daughter of Francis and Cathy Welsh.
