Chelsea resident receives Birmingham-Southern College student-athlete award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Birmingham-Southern student Scott Shelton of Chelsea is the recipient of the William Legg Award presented during the college's 2010 Honors Day Convocation.

The $1,000 scholarship is presented to a senior student-athlete who plans to attend graduate school. It is named after the 1950 BSC graduate who played varsity baseball and basketball at the college.

Shelton was a member of the BSC men's soccer team. He was a four-year starter on the men's soccer team at Chelsea High School where he was voted team MVP in 2004 and 2005.

He is an English major and the son of Richard and Cathy Shelton.
