Two Birmingham-Southern students receive theatre scholarship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Birmingham-Southern College sophomore Jacquelyn Cox of Chattanooga, Tenn., and junior Marie Hunt of Mentone received the Mary Jean Parson Scholarship during the college's 2010 Honors Day Convocation.

The scholarship is awarded to female students demonstrating a significant interest in theatre and is selected by the BSC theatre faculty.

The award is in memory of the late BSC alumna who worked in New York City for ABC Network for 15 years producing the Jimmy Dean Show and Guy Lombardo Special. She later moved to Birmingham and became the executive director of the city's Broadway Series.

Cox, an undeclared major, is the daughter of Jonnie Cox.

Hunt, a theatre arts major, is the daughter of James and Mary Hunt.
