Birmingham-Southern College student receives humanities award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Birmingham-Southern College junior Wes George of Germantown, Tenn., received the Bert Meadow McTyeire Scholarship during the college's 2010 Honors Day Convocation.

The award, sponsored by the college's humanities department, memorializes the late BSC student and son of BSC trustee Katherine Meadow McTyeire of Birmingham, who died while he was a student at Birmingham-Southern. The scholarship provides assistance to history majors.

George is the son of David and Mary George.
