Birmingham-Southern theatre faculty earn Kennedy Center recognition
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Two Birmingham-Southern College theatre faculty members have received recognition for their work by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
Michael Flowers, professor of theatre and chair of the department of theatre and dance at BSC, and Matthew Mielke, professor of theatre and designer/technical director at BSC, have each received a 2009 award from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for their work last year on “Dead Man Walking.” Flowers was recognized for excellence in directing, and Mielke was recognized for excellence in design.
The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival is a national theater program. The year-round program has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the U.S.
