Birmingham-Southern College professor awarded prestigious Fulbright Scholarship for international research

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Randall Law, associate professor of history at Birmingham-Southern, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct research at Odessa National University in Odessa, Ukraine.

Law is spending four months this fall working on his research titled “Life in a Time of Terror: Odessa, 1905-07.”

Holding a bachelor's degree in Russian from Amherst College and a master's degree in Russian Studies from Yale University, Law earned his Ph.D. in history with concentrations in Russia and Modern Europe from Georgetown University. He joined the faculty at BSC in August 2003.

He recently published his first book “Terrorism, A History” (Polity Books, 2009), which focuses on terrorism in a multi-layered context. According to the publisher, the book is a one-of-a-kind study of the history of terrorism.
