Birmingham-Southern crowns Homecoming Queen and King at inaugural Wesley Cup football game against Huntingdon College

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Julie Johnson of Huntsville and Buddy Permenter of Gautier, Miss., were crowned the 2009 Birmingham-Southern College Homecoming Queen and King during halftime ceremonies of the inaugural Wesley Cup Homecoming football game against Huntingdon College Nov. 7.

Julie Johnson of Huntsville and Buddy Permenter of Gautier, MissJohnson, a senior English major, is the daughter of Steve and Julia Johnson. Permenter, a senior math-computer science major, is the son of Shannon and Tammy Boykin. The pair was selected in a campus-wide vote of the student body.

Named senior attendants during the Homecoming festivities were Christopher Cage of Newnan, Ga., an accounting major and the son of Rodney and Catherine Cage; Kathleen Hillen of Tupelo, Miss., a business major and the daughter of Reed and Jan Hillen; Christina Johnson of Montgomery, a musical theatre major and the daughter of Perry and Suzanne Roquemore; David McConnell of Hoover, a math major and the son of David and Anna McConnell; John Meadows of McCalla, a business administration major and the son of Pat Meadows and Nancy Meadows; and Kathleen Smith of Hixson, Tenn., an interdisciplinary philosophy/politics/economics major and the daughter of Scott and Margaret Smith.

Junior attendants were Will Breland of Decatur, a history major and the son of David and Drama Breland; Wes George of Germantown, Tenn., a history major and the son of David and Mary George; Mary Catherine McAnnally of Decatur, an English major and the daughter of Sid and April McAnnally; Ashley Moore of Pensacola, Fla., a business administration major and the daughter of Alan and Margie Moore; Daniel Osula of Jasper, a biology major and the son of Claude and Kehinde Osula; and Elizabeth Walker of Baton Rouge, La., a business administration major and the daughter of Myron and Rebecca Walker.

Sophomore attendants were Benjamin Chilcutt of West Point, Miss., a biology major and the son of Jack and Laurie Chilcutt; Alexis Gilmore of Mobile, a biology major and the daughter of Joe and Clara Gilmore; Jacob Lamb of Athens, a chemistry professional major and the son of Jack and Cathy Lamb; and Lauren Metzger of Mobile, a biology major and the daughter of Ken and Lori Metzger.

Freshman attendants were Abigail Dy of Clanton, a biology major and the daughter of Dr. Ritky and Teresita Dy; Coty Lovelady of Montevallo, an elementary/collaborative education major and the son of Janice Lovelady; Mary Claire Owen of Gadsden, a theatre arts major and the daughter of Philip and Rebecca Owen; and Stephen Russell of Vestavia, a biology major and the son of Mike and Catherine Russell.
