Twenty students selected to serve on the Honor Council at Birmingham-Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern College Honor Council serves as a conduct board to uphold the college's Honor Code among its students. Students are selected by the Student Government Association through an application process that includes writing timed essays. The Honors Council includes 15 members, three alternates, and two Pre-Hearing Committee members who serve a one-year academic term.

BSC students selected to the Honor Council for the 2009-10 academic year, listed by hometown, are:

ANNISTON: Russ Norris, a junior math major.


Hoover/Vestavia: Sumeet Singh, a sophomore biology major from Vestavia; Emily Wallace, a junior elementary/collaborative education major from Vestavia; and John Andrew Young, alternate, a sophomore political science major from Vestavia.

North/East: Kimmie Farris of Morris, a senior English major.
South: Tina Gillespie, a sophomore urban environmental studies major from Homewood.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.: Daniel Burgin, a sophomore biology major.

GERMANTOWN, Tenn.: Wes George, a junior history major.

HIXON, Tenn.: Allison Bovell, a sophomore religion major.

HOUSTON, Texas: Austin Tunnell, alternate, a junior accounting major.

HUNTSVILLE: Winston Crute, a sophomore biology major.

JASPER: Ryan Melvin, a junior interdisciplinary philosophy/religion major.

JUPITER, Fla.: Jeff Vaughan, Pre-Hearing Committee, a senior business administration major.

LIVINGSTON, Texas: Kayse Eckelman, a senior international studies major.

MOBILE: Sam Hill, a junior accounting major; Ashley Hudson, alternate, a sophomore undeclared major; and Carol Thetford, Pre-Hearing Committee, a senior economics major.
