Birmingham-Southern winner of “best bathrooms” contest

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College is the winner of the TargetX Bowl bathroom contest for the Best Small College bathrooms in its campus Admission Welcome Center. Grand prize winners, including BSC, and other honorable mention schools were named recently by TargetX, a higher education marketing firm that assesses the visitor center experience.

According to TargetX, a bathroom can be very important because it is the first thing a family sees when they arrive on campus. The company decided to have some fun and requested that colleges and universities enter their welcome center bathrooms in the competition.

“Although it started out as humorous, it really was a much deeper discussion than that,” said Tyler Peterson who is director of recruitment at Birmingham-Southern. “We really strive to make the entire visitor experience outstanding for prospective students and their families. The bathroom, while a small part of a first impression, is important.”

The competition was initiated by TargetX as a part of its experience evaluation of colleges and universities based on how they treat their visitors. The University of Delaware is the Best Large University winner and honorable mention goes to Oklahoma Christian University for the Most Unique Fixture, Warner Pacific College for Best Color/Graphics, and Hendrix College for Best Décor.

The BSC Admission Welcome Center, including its award-winning bathrooms, was built in 2007.
