News from the HilltopFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Area residents receive behavioral sciences, social sciences and economics awards from Birmingham-Southern CollegeBIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Six Birmingham-Southern students were presented awards by the college's areas of behavioral sciences, social sciences and economics during the 2009 Honors Day Convocation. Listed alphabetically by hometown and award, they are: BIRMINGHAM Area: HUNTSVILLE: Seong Kim, a psychology major – William James Award, given by the college's area of behavioral and social sciences and named for one of the pioneers of the science of psychology. It is awarded to a graduating psychology student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and a commitment to psychology as a profession. MOBILE: James Rouse – BSC Outstanding Economics Senior Award, sponsored by the college's area of economics and presented to a senior economics major based upon merit, character, and potential for success. MOBILE: Carol Thetford – BSC Outstanding Economics Junior Award, sponsored by the college's area of economics and presented to a junior economics major based upon merit, character, and potential for success. |
