Pinson native receives Birmingham-Southern College humanities award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College senior Ashlee Vinyard of Pinson received the Bert Meadow McTyeire Scholarship during the college's 2009 Honors Day Convocation.

The award, sponsored by the college's Humanities department, memorializes the late BSC student and son of BSC trustee Katherine Meadow McTyeire of Birmingham, who died while he was a student at Birmingham-Southern. The scholarship provides assistance to history majors.

Vinyard, a graduate of Clay-Chalkville High School, is the daughter of Geneva Vinyard of McCalla and Billy Vinyard.
