Birmingham-Southern student receives education scholarship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College senior Mary Elizabeth Hallman is the recipient of the annual Alabama Consortium Scholarship presented during the college's 2009 Honors Day Convocation.

The $3,300 scholarship is sponsored by The Alabama Consortium for students who are pursuing certification in special education. The students must plan on working in Alabama's public schools for at least one year after completing certification or degree requirements.

Hallman is an elementary/collaborative education major from Eldridge.
