Local student receives Birmingham-Southern College dance scholarship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern student Gowoon Koo of College Hills is the recipient of the endowed Mira Popovich Scholarship in Dance presented during the college's 2009 Honors Day Convocation.

The scholarship was established in honor of Birmingham-Southern professor of dance Mira Popovich. The award is presented to outstanding dance majors, either a graduating senior or rising senior, and is intended to assist with expenses of pursuing a career in the field of dance.

Koo, a senior dance major, is an international student from Seoul, Korea.
