Birmingham-Southern College professor receives ODK teaching excellence award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Dr. Jeannette Runquist, professor of biology at Birmingham-Southern, is the recipient of the Omicron Delta Kappa Excellence in Teaching Award presented during the college's 2009 Honors Day Convocation.

The award, sponsored by the BSC chapter of the national honorary, recognizes a faculty member who has attained a level of excellence in all aspects of teaching, including classroom performance and student advising.

Runquist, who joined the BSC faculty in 1982, received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from East Carolina University, a master's degree in anthropology from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and a Ph.D in zoology from North Carolina State. She is the pre-health profession student advisor at BSC.
