News from the HilltopFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Birmingham-Southern piano professor to present inaugural faculty recitalBIRMINGHAM, Ala.—New Birmingham-Southern College assistant professor of piano Lucerne DeSa will present her inaugural faculty performance May 7 in the BSC Hill Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. The recital is open to the public. Admission is free. The program will include Sonata in E-flat major by Haydn; “El Fandango de Candil” by Granados, which is from the suite “Goyescas;” Danzas argentinas, Op. 2 by Ginastera, which is a set of three dances that incorporate elements of Argentinean folk music; and Preludes, Book 2 by Debussy, which is a set of 12 preludes for piano. DeSa, who joined the BSC music faculty in fall 2008, earned a bachelor of music degree in piano from the University of California Irvine, a master of music degree from the University of Southern California and a D.M.A. in piano performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. |
