Birmingham-Southern biology students win competitions

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —Birmingham-Southern College senior English major Kimmie Farris of Morris won the Association of the Southeastern Biologists poster competition at its annual spring meeting. Her poster, titled “An egg number vs. size trade-off in the red-eyed tree frog, Agalychnis callidryas,” won first prize out of 80 entries including undergraduate and graduate students from across the Southeast.

BSC junior Jordan Scott of Lillian won first place in the undergraduate poster presentation at the 4th Annual UAB Scholar Symposium last month. His poster was titled “Establishment of Mesenchymal Cell Lines with Regulated Expression of Runx2.”

Farris is enrolled in the Harrison Honors Program at BSC. She is the daughter of William and Vickie Farris.

Scott is the son of Jason and Kimberly Scott.
