Birmingham-Southern announces Earth Day Festival

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern sophomore and president of the BSC Community Garden Ben Tracy has announced plans for an Earth Day Festival at the college.

The Birmingham-Southern Garden Club and enAct student organization will host a number of activities in observance of Earth Day on April 22. Highlights of the afternoon and evening activities include a balance between education and celebration, says Tracy. Plans for the 3-8 p.m. event include music, games, presentations and speakers, and an organic T-shirt sale. Activities will take place on the BSC residence hall quad.

BSC environmental studies faculty will be on hand to discuss several on-campus environmental initiatives and academic programs. A “green” burger grill out will be offered at a cost of $5 and will include a black bean burger.

Tracy is an Urban Environmental Studies major from Atlanta, Ga. He is enrolled in the Harrison Honors Program at the college.
