Birmingham-Southern College voice students win state competition awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Five Birmingham-Southern students participated and earned awards in the vocal auditions and competition at the annual state chapter meeting of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. A total of 396 students from across the state participated in the weekend auditions and competitions. BSC students and their awards are as follows:

Maggie Beam, a freshman music major from Anniston, was a semi-finalist in the first year female category. She is a student of BSC associate professor of music Jacqueline Leary-Warsaw.

Caleb Clark, a freshman music major from Munford, placed second in the first year male category. He is a student of BSC professor of music David Smith.

Hannah Ellington, a sophomore music major from Pelham, placed first in the third year female category. She is a student of Leary-Warsaw.

Gannon Love, a sophomore theatre arts major from Montgomery, placed second in the lower division musical theatre male category. He is a student of Smith.

Michael Seward, a senior interdisciplinary musical theatre major from Mobile, placed first in the upper division musical theatre male category. He is also a student of Smith.
