Birmingham-Southern named to President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College has been named to the 2008 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The college was recognized by The Corporation for National and Community Service for exemplary service efforts and service to America's communities.
Birmingham-Southern is one of 635 schools selected for the Honor Roll nationwide. The program, launched in 2006, is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service-learning and civic engagement. It is collaboration with the U.S. Department of Education, Housing and Urban Development, and the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.
