Birmingham-Southern professor recognized as exemplary teacher by United Methodist Church

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Michael Flowers, professor of theatre and chair of the department of theatre and dance at Birmingham-Southern College, has been presented with the Exemplary Teaching Award by the Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry of the United Methodist Church.

The award is presented annually to a BSC professor who is “characterized by excellence in teaching; civility and concern for students and colleagues; commitment to value-centered education; and service to students, the institution, the community, or the church.”

Joining the Birmingham-Southern faculty in 1984, Flowers holds a bachelor's degree from Arkansas State University and a master's from the University of Mississippi.
