American Idol Ruben Studdard to host music camp on Birmingham-Southern campus

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern College campus will be home to a music camp organized by the Ruben Studdard Foundation in the BSC Hill Music Building from July 14-25. Studdard will participate during the first day on July 14 and again July 25 for the camp finale concert in the BSC Hill Recital Hall at 6 p.m.

More than 50 youth ages 12-19 have been selected to participate in the camp to take part in classes including voice, instrument, music theory, and on-stage performance. Limited admission to the camp is still available by audition. Students who play an instrument are encouraged to audition.

Instruction during the camp will be provided by certified music teachers and local music professionals.

The two-week camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday and will include breakfast and lunch daily. For information on camp cost, or to schedule an audition, contact Emily Studdard at 205-856-2688, or by email at
