Birmingham-Southern to host Alabama Music Teachers Association conference
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College will host the 56th annual conference of the Alabama Music Teachers Association on its campus June 12-14. Conference sessions and activities will take place in the BSC Hill Music Building.
Guest artists will include pianist Spencer Myer, who has garnered audience and critical acclaim from around the globe and is rapidly becoming established as one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation.
Guest conference clinicians include Cathy Albergo, professor of music and keyboard coordinator at William Rainey Harper College, and musician Seymour Bernstein, who is an internationally known writer, composer, teacher and lecturer.
The purpose of the AMTA, an affiliate organization of the Music Teachers National Association, is to promote the interests and welfare of music teachers in Alabama through professional cooperation in clinics and workshops, provide encouragement for continued growth and development of music teachers, encourage good fellowship in the teaching profession, promote the cause of music, and encourage young students by providing opportunities for public performances.
