Woodbury resident receives Birmingham-Southern College student-athlete award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern student Tawnya Nylund of Woodbury, Minn., is the recipient of the William Legg Award presented during the college's 2008 Honors Day Convocation.

The $1,000 scholarship is presented to a senior student-athlete who plans to attend graduate school. It is named after the 1950 BSC graduate who played varsity baseball and basketball at the college and who is executive director of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

Nylund is a member of the BSC women's air rifle team.

An accounting major, she is the daughter of Lora Nylund of Saint Paul, Minn., and John Nylund of Forest Lake, Minn. She will graduate from Birmingham-Southern May 18.
