Russellville native receives Birmingham-Southern College award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern student Arthur Richey of Russellville is the recipient of the endowed Hubbs Award presented during the college's 2008 Honors Day Convocation.

The scholarship was first awarded in 2006 by the family of LaMar and Louise Hubbs, parents of BSC Associate Professor of Library Science and College Archivist Guy Hubbs, to mark the Sesquicentennial year of the college. The purpose of the award is to honor the student who best exemplifies the twin principles upon which Birmingham-Southern College was founded: academic excellence and selfless service.

A junior political science major, Richey is the son of Benjamin and Mary Richey.
