News from the HilltopFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Birmingham-Southern College announces 2008-09 Honor CouncilBIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern College Student Government Association recently selected 19 students to serve on the Honor Council for the 2008-09 academic year. Members of the council are selected by the SGA based on academic and social integrity and are charged with upholding the tenets of the Birmingham-Southern Honor Code Pledge. This system of academic and social honor allows BSC students to enjoy a campus community of trust between faculty and students. BSC students selected, listed alphabetically by hometown, are: ATLANTA: Peter Starr, a junior international studies major and the son of Thrower and Evelyn Starr. BIRMINGHAM Area: Hoover/Vestavia: Justin Fargason of Hoover, a junior business administration major and the son of Jonathan and Lynn Fargason; Jeff Vaughan of North Shelby, a sophomore business administration major and the son of Dr. Jefferson and Marion Vaughan; and Emily Wallace of Vestavia, a freshman elementary/collaborative education major and the daughter of Joseph and Lucy Wallace. North/East: Kimmie Farris of Morris, a junior undecided major and the daughter of William and Kimmie Farris. BATON ROUGE, LA.: Clifton Byrd (alternate), a freshman business administration major and the son of Richard and Lori Byrd. CLANTON: William Moore, a junior biology major and the son of C.R. Jr. and Sally Moore. DECATUR: Carson Land, a junior history major and the daughter of Edward and Allyson Land. GAYLESVILLE: Brendan Griffin, a sophomore political science major. GERMANTOWN, TENN.: Wes George, a freshman undecided major and the son of Steve and Margaret George. HIXSON, Tenn.: Allison Bovell, a sophomore undecided major and the daughter of Charles and Bess Bovell. JASPER: Ryan Melvin, a freshman religion major and the son of Leroy and Mary Melvin. LEXINGTON, KY.: Matt Maloy, a freshman business administration major and the son of John and Julie Maloy. LIVINGSTON, Texas: Kayse Eckelman (pre-hearing committee), a sophomore international studies major and the daughter of Kalita Bodnar.
