Birmingham-Southern Greek council receives regional and national awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern College Interfraternity Council has recently received awards for academics and leadership.

The BSC council was recognized as a regional grade-point average winner by the Gamma Sigma Alpha National Greek Honor Society for the fall 2007 semester. This award honors Greek communities with the highest positive gap between the grade-point averages of their fraternities and all men.

The organization was also awarded Excellence Awards for Risk Management/Judicial Procedures and for Academic Achievement and Scholarship at the annual Interfraternity Council's Leadership Academy held last month in Atlanta. The BSC council was also recognized for scoring 100 percent in the areas of judicial procedures and programming.

The Interfraternity Council is the governing body of the college's fraternity organizations.
