Birmingham-Southern students to present dance performances of original choreography

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern College dance department will present its biennial Student Choreography Workshop on Feb. 28, 29, and March 1 in the College Theatre Mainstage at 7:30 p.m.

The performances will feature 29 BSC student dancers, both majors and non-majors, and 10 pieces of original choreography by students. Dances will include classical ballet, contemporary pointe, jazz, and modern.

Student choreographers in this year's workshop include: Ashley Andrews, a junior dance education major from Homewood; Liz Cochran, a sophomore dance major from Pelham; Leigh Anne Ervin, a senior political science/dance major from Huntsville; Nell Heflin, a senior business administration/dance major from Nashville, Tenn.; Jaclyn Horsley, a senior business administration major from Chelsea; Gowoon Koo, a junior dance major from College Hills; Whitney Mayfield, a senior dance major from Hoover; Monique Roberts, a senior business administration/dance major from Forestdale; Katie Scott, a senior dance/psychology major from Birmingham (Southside); and Jocelyn Smith, a senior dance major from Tupelo, Miss.
