Birmingham-Southern College named to President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern was named to the 2007 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with distinction. The college was recognized, on behalf of President George W. Bush, for helping to build a culture of service and civic engagement in our nation.
Birmingham-Southern is one of 127 schools selected for the Honor Roll with distinction. In total, 528 schools were recognized. The program, launched in 2006, is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service-learning and civic engagement. It is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Housing and Urban Development, USA Freedom Corps, and the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.
