Birmingham-Southern plans activities to celebrate Black History Month

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College is hosting a number of activities on campus in recognition of Black History Month. Planned activities are as follows:

Opening Speaker: Ahmad Ward, Birmingham Civil Rights Institute – “Carter G. Woodson & the Origins of Multiculturalism,” Feb. 5, Norton Campus Center Theatre, 11-11:45 a.m.

National Black AIDS Awareness Day: AIDS testing, Birmingham AIDS Outreach, Feb. 7, Norton Campus Center 2nd Floor SGA Room, noon-2 p.m.

National Black AIDS Awareness Day Speaker: Stephen Elrod, Birmingham Aids Outreach, Feb. 7, Norton Campus Center Theatre, 3-4 p.m.

Black Student Union Discussion Night: “What Role has Multiculturalism Played in the Presidential Race?” Feb. 12, The Attic, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

BSC One-A-Chord Gospel Choir Concert: Feb. 26, 16th Street Baptist Church, 7 p.m.
