Birmingham-Southern receives green bikes from Regions Bank

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College has received 100 green bicycles donated by Regions Bank to support sustainable transportation efforts. The lifegreen bikes, the same ones used in a current marketing campaign by Regions, were delivered to the college today. The occasion, marked by a ceremony in front of the college's Bikesnew Admission Welcome Center, included a bike parade on campus led by BSC President David Pollick, Regions CEO and BSC alumnus and trustee Dowd Ritter, and BSC Student Government Association President Peter Starr. BSC faculty, staff and students, along with Regions employees who are alumni of the college, rode the bikes to the site of the presentation ceremony.

The college approached Regions earlier this year about a donation of bikes for students, faculty, and staff to use for transportation between campus facilities in an environmentally-friendly way. Regions accepted the proposal and delivered the bikes to campus.

“We are very grateful to Regions Bank, and also to its president Dowd Ritter,” says Pollick.

The new bikes will be placed in new bike racks located in various places on campus to be used as community property.
