Birmingham-Southern Concert Choir to perform Oct. 25

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern College Concert Choir will perform “The Full Monte,” Madrigal Settings by 17th century Italian poet Claudio Monteverdi and contemporary American composer Morten Lauridsen on Oct. 25 in the BSC Hill Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.

The BSC student choir, led by professor of music and conductor Lester Seigel, will explore the close connection between Italian love poems of the Renaissance and the madrigal style. The performance will be followed by a presentation from Joan Catoni Conlon, professor of graduate choral research at the University of Colorado, Boulder, which will include informative details for all who appreciate the beauty and collaboration of text and music found in these works.

The special choral music event is part of the 2007-08 Hugh and Barbara Thomas Master Class Series in Music at the college.
