Award Recognition Concert to honor Birmingham-Southern professor of music

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Music by Birmingham-Southern College Professor of Music Charles Norman Mason and Ed Robertson, professor emeritus at the University of Montevallo, will be presented at a Birmingham Art Music Alliance concert Oct. 11 at Brock Recital Hall at Samford University at 7:30 p.m.

The concert is being held in honor of Mason who was awarded the 2005 Samuel Barber Rome Prize Fellowship and Robertson who was named the 2004 Carnegie Foundation/Council for Advancement and Support of Education Alabama Professor of the Year.

Performing works by Mason will be BSC musicians First Lady and violist/violinist Karen Bentley Pollick, pianist Adam Bowles, and violist Michael Fernandez
