BSC alumna to open art exhibit with live iron pour

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College alumna Lisa Michitti will launch her exhibit with an opening night reception on Friday, Oct. 5, outside the Durbin Gallery, Kennedy Art Center/Azar Art Studios, from 5 to 8 p.m. A part of the opening ceremonies will be a live iron pour. The event is open to the public and admission is free.

The Lisa Michitti Exhibit features multi-media work, much of it digitally produced. Some of the pieces are site specific created especially for the BSC gallery. It will be on display from Oct. 5 to 26, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the Durbin Gallery.

Sloss Furnace will present the live iron pour during the opening ceremonies on Oct. 5 beginning at 5 p.m. Molds are now on sale to the public by the BSC Art Students’ League in the Norton Campus Center Atrium. A mold can be purchased, poured, and the piece taken home that night. Live entertainment will be provided by the Herb Trotman Bluegrass Band
