Birmingham-Southern College student awarded Gilman International Scholarship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Claire Anderson, a junior pre-health major at Birmingham-Southern College, has been awarded a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship. She is studying pre-health courses this fall term at the University of Limerick, Ireland.

BSC has established a study abroad partnership with the University of Limerick specifically for pre-health majors. Anderson is the second BSC pre-health major to participate in this unique international study experience. Other BSC students have studied at the University of Limerick from other majors such as economics, literature and business.

The Gilman International Scholarship is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is a congressionally funded program administered by the Institute of International Education.

Anderson, a native of Louisville, Miss., is the daughter of Aaron and Sherry Anderson.
