Birmingham-Southern College student awarded scholarship for foreign study

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Benjamin Miller of Hoover, a junior undecided major at Birmingham-Southern College, has been awarded a scholarship by the Freeman-ASIA (Awards for Study in Asia) Foundation and the Institute of International Education to study abroad in China for one academic year. He is studying this fall at Hong Kong Baptist University and next spring with the School for International Training program in Yunnan, China.

The Freeman-ASIA Foundation, established in 1994, is dedicated to augmenting international understanding between the United States and the nations of East Asia. It accomplishes this principally through the distribution of grants in the educational sector. The foundation grants about $50 million every year to various organizations and institutions.

Miller is a graduate of Hoover High School and the son of Christopher and Tina Miller.
