Birmingham-Southern College kicks off Homecoming week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Homecoming on the Hilltop begins today with a week-long parade of activities as Birmingham-Southern College honors “Old Traditions . . . New Beginnings,” the theme of this year's event. The festivities mark the rebirth of football on the Hilltop as well as the return of Homecoming to the traditional fall season.

The celebration features a “Let's Get Rowdy” pep rally and bonfire on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Soccer Field parking lot on campus, with a rain location in Bill Battle Coliseum. Appearances will include BSC head football coach Joey Jones and the team, the BSC cheerleaders and dance team, and Rowdy the Panther.

The Panthers will take on Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe DePauw University Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1:30 p.m. at Regions Park in Hoover. Game day will get under way with the 2007 BSC Family Day on campus and a tailgating competition in the Regions Park parking lot to the right of the stadium entrance. Prizes will be awarded for best tailgate decorations, best tailgate food, and best tailgate school spirit. Judging begins at 1 p.m.
