News from the HilltopFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Birmingham-Southern student wins top honors in national music competitionBIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern sophomore Timothy Beenken has been named the national winner of the National Federation of Music Clubs Biennial Student/Collegiate Awards competition in the men's voice category. Beenken, a second-year voice performance major from Vestavia, was announced the winner earlier this month after capturing titles and prizes totaling $4,000 at the state and regional levels earlier this year. He is a student of BSC Professor of Music David J. Smith. His parents are Samuel Beenken and Ruth Beenken, both of Vestavia. |
